Is it Rude to Wear Headphones While Getting Nails Done?

Today, more and more people visit nail technicians, and why not, when they’re so affordable and can last for weeks?

But, is it rude to wear headphones while getting your nails done? Read on below and find out!

Is it Rude to Wear Headphones While Getting Nails Done?

When you’re visiting the nail salon, these days, you may notice that many of the customers are using their smartphones.

Further, most of those people are using earbuds or headphones in tandem with their devices to watch videos, listen to music, or chat with someone.

The nail technicians are more than used to this sort of behavior, and find very little about the situation to be rude.

The main time it’s seen as rude when you’re wearing headphones while getting your nails done is when it causes you to ignore the technician.

How Rude Is it?

On the rude meter’s scale of 1 to 10, wearing headphones while getting your nails done rates 2

The main reason wearing headphones at the nail salon doesn’t rate higher is that today, more and more customers listen to music, watch videos, and even talk to other people on the phone while they get their nails done (and wait for their turn with the nail technicians).

In some cases, after you get in the chair, and discuss what you want to be done with your nails, you may even find that your nail technician puts her own headphones on (if you have already done so yourself).

Nail technicians may just as often wear Bluetooth pieces in their ears rather than headphones (to look more professional).

Why isn’t it Rude?

It isn’t rude to wear headphones while getting your nails done because, well, everybody is doing it these days.

What can we say? The environment and social climate of the 21st century is a far cry from the late 20th century, including in beauty spas and nail salons.

Today, with so many people streaming on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook-type apps, there are very few places people don’t wear headphones or use their smart devices (including at the nail salon).

So long as you keep the volume down to where only you can hear what is going on in them, wearing headphones while getting your nails done isn’t likely to be an issue for you.

Common Questions

Is it rude to be on your phone while getting your nails done?

Being on your phone, while initially seen as rude, is becoming less and less rude each year as the younger generations move into society.

Today, so long as you aren’t actually talking on the phone, and are simply streaming music or watching YouTube, no one is going to mind (so long as you wear headphones while doing).

Is it rude to talk to someone else while getting your nails done?

In a nail salon, traditional etiquette dictates that you should have small talk/polite conversation with the technician doing your nails.

That said, in today’s world, you may visit some nail salons and find that everyone in the place is on their phones carrying on conversations with others and playing on apps.
